Family Caregivers Center Online Community Guidelines

 

Thank you for being part of our community. To ensure the best possible experience for all members, we have established some basic guidelines for participation.

By joining and using this community, you agree that you have read and will follow these guidelines.

Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with these important guidelines. If you have questions, contact FCGCModerator@mercycare.org.  To preserve an environment that encourages both civil and beneficial dialogue, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate membership in this community for anyone who violates these rules.

The Family Caregivers Center of Mercy Online Community is a public website available to help caregivers. While using this site, please remember the following guidelines:

  1. Do not give out medical advice
    1. Sharing your own experience is fine, but don't tell other members what they should do.
    2. Experiences and information shared by Family Caregivers Center Online Community members are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
    3. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read in the community.

Our moderators will be watching for violations of this guideline.

  1. Respect others. Focus on the content of posts and not on the people making them. Please extend the benefit of the doubt to newer guests and members.
    1. Exercise tolerance and respect toward other participants whose views may differ from your own. Disagreements are fine, but mutual respect is a must.
    2. Realize that sarcasm and joking can often be misunderstood.
    3. Be inclusive. Not everyone shares the same religious or political beliefs. Don't impose your beliefs on others.
    4. Personal attacks against members or healthcare providers are not acceptable. Such posts will be removed.

  2. Be polite.
    1. Do not use obscene or hateful language. Profanity, vulgarity, and abusive language are out-of-bounds.
    2. Avoid typing in ALL CAPS, as it is considered shouting.

 

  1. Respect the purpose of the community. Use the community to share successes, challenges, constructive feedback, questions, and goals. If you’ve found a product or service helpful, please share your experience with the group in a respectful way.

  2. Post your message or documents only to the most appropriate community group. This helps ensure all messages receive the best response.
    1. State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search the archives by subject.
    2. Take note of the topic of the discussion you are participating in. Stay on topic.
    3. Tangents will happen sometimes. If they do, bring the discussion back to the main topic.

 

  1. No commercial postings, advertisements, or solicitations.

 

  1. Keep politics out of the community conversations.
    1. Don't post about politics, political viewpoints, or political news stories.
    2. Political and/or divisive posts will be removed.

 

  1. Respect intellectual property. Post content that you have personally created or have permission to use and have properly attributed to the content creator.

  2. Protect yourself and others – remember that the online community is a public site.
    1. You are not required to use your full or real name when posting.
    2. Do not post personal information such as phone numbers, addresses, social security numbers, location, or other private information.

  3. You may not represent yourself as another person or imply any connection with any person or organization with which you are not in fact associated.

  4. Follow the rules. By posting to the Site, you agree to abide by our Terms of Use.

Mercy Medical Center reserves the right to terminate access to any user who does not abide by these guidelines. Please note that administrators and moderators of our online community have the right to delete any post that is not considered appropriate.
